I went last year and was planning on going this year before it was moved. Does anyone have information on just what the noise requirements were at Holister Hills that required the move?

I believe there was a legal settlement to be under 99 decibels.

Madera is not as nice as the Hollister area, but I'm still looking forward to attending my first National event! :D The next time I drive past the track I will try to take some photos to share and get some info on the surface and other conditions.

http://www.off-road.com/dirtbike/news/2 ... index.html This suggests that you need meet a 101dB limit to ride in the ORV parks whether on a track or not. I assume that some of the vintage bikes sampled could not make this limit.

Michael,

The Hollister Hills GP track 99db limit was the result of a lawsuit. Here is a link with the details:

If anyone fiqures out how to make an Elsinore CR250R pass the 99db level tests, I'd love to know how they did it!
Thanks

Maybe a carrot would work? :)

Have you tried the DG replacement aluminum silencer?

I spoke with DG, they won't guarantee a db level. And I'm not going to spend the money for the silencer if they can't tell me what db it's rated at, and they won't take it back if it does not pass the 99db level.
I did make up a prototype silencer and sent it to Jemco to be made out of steel. They did a super nice job of fabing it up for me, for $86.00 including shipping. It tested at 98db. The problem is that I'm not convinced that the 18 or 19 year old young man running the sound meter knew what he was doing. I don't trust his results, so I'm going to have one of our production tooling manufactures test it for me. I'm on his list of things to do. I'll post the results when I get it tested.
