heat of combustions are approximately 1100-1200 F on most engines. Our 3.5 horspower supermileage car's engines heat of combustion was measured experimentally in this temperature range. A regular fire will not hurt the pipe except to discolor it. If you know what the pipe is made from you can go to this web site to find its melting point (if you are worried). Beware that there are lots of differnt types of materials and treatments.
