are 1980 cr250 shocks air or nitrogenfilled

Should be Nitrogen. Air will work in all Nitrogen shocks, but the air expands and shrinks according to temperature, and could cause poor performance or at worst - failure. Nitrogen does not expand or shrink like air does.
