Vintage Dirt Bike Q & A

I have an engine case that is marked JE01E no numbers below it. I think that means it is 125cc. The clutch arm is on the right side and comes out of the BOTTOM of the engine. I have never seen a clutch set up this way. Can anyone tell me what year this engine might be? Thanks.

All the '79 to '82 CR125R's have the JE01E markings, the way to ID what year of bikes it's for is by the SN#; 20XXXXX -'79, 21XXXXX -'80, 22XXXXX -'81.

I think this was a replacement case from a Honda dealer. It has NEVER been assembled.
My only other question is, will it will work for all CR125s 79-82? Or were there differences?

Starting in '81 the CR went to water cooling so that will probably rule out the use of these cases on those model years.
