 Post subject: powder coating rims

has anybody ever powder coated there rims i have some did rims that are in good condition other than being all scrached up from tire irons and screw drivers i would like them gold anyway like 87 cr125s there going on a 79 cr125 thanks jd

Powder coating your rims would work fine. The DIDs are extruded aluminum that were clear anodized, powder
coating would be just as durable if not more so.

I would clean the rims thoroughly and check them for cracks at the welds then wet sand the scratches and gouges.
Finish them off with a media blasting using aluminum oxide to give the powder a good surface to adhere to. If you
want a straight gold finish, you can coat them, cook them and go. If you are looking for a gold anodized finish, you
will need to do a base coat top coat process. Either way, they should look great.
