Hi, I have a 75 MR175 that I got in 1983 or so. It's been in my barn and hasn't been run since about 1989. I'm trying to decide whether to try and restore it to running condition or just pick up a used bike to ride with my 7 year old who is just getting started.

Are parts available for these things?
I need stuff like plug wire, kick lever, a rear shock or two. Probably needs torn down also, are internals still available to do a top half?

And most importantly, if I do get her running again, is the bike going to drag my 220lb butt around?

I probably will end up just trying to find a good home for the bike.

Thanks
Ashton

Thanks to online auction site and ability to use some aftermarket parts (shocks), about the only thing you'll have trouble finding is an oversized piston, if you need one. Those are verrry hard to obtain, but if you are patient enough, you can sometimes find those, too.
Good luck.

It will have to be a labor of love. You could pick up something that works cheaper then rebuilding.

*BUT* let me tell you I built a Suzuki 185 up for my grandson and everyone that has ridden that bike loves it. We are talking about everyone from my nephew who has an XR500 and vintage Yamaha 400 and my son in law, Kawasaki KDX owner and used to do a bit of racing. One of the friends of the family who tried it said "That is the most fun I have had this year!" We are all a bunch of big eaters if you get my drift.

Magic happens at around 16 hp with no flat spots. If you get it running right there will have more then enough guts in it to get your adrenalin flowing.
