I have a 1974-75 MT250. I'd like to replace the ignition system with an elctronic ignition and keep all the lighting. Does anybody know if something is available for this bike? I also need the ignition switch.
Thanks

I looked into this briefly last year. As I recall, I came up with two options:

1) Adapt a later CR250M CDI ignition (it looks like it should fit from photos, but I don't know for sure), then go with LED lighting and a small gel-cell battery. You might also be able to get someone like Ricky Stator to add a lighting or charging coil to the CR stator plate, but again I don't know.

2) Contact PVL and/or Powerdynamo to make up a lighting-added CR250M ignition. Powerdynamo recently helped my buddy light up his MR175 with a modified CR125M ignition, which it now looks like they've added to their line.

Either way, you should be able to tie into your existing wiring harness without much trouble, keeping your existing key if any (there are aftermarket key setups if you need them).

Ray

Thanks, I talked with PVL and they didn't offer any modified options and don't make one so dead end there.
I have a email into Ricky Stator
