1975 250 Elsinore bought with no oil tank. Can't seem to get an EXPERT answer as to whether or not I can just pre mix. Bike runs well but haven't put any miles on yet til I know what I'm doing. SOMEONE THAT"S DONE THIS PLEASE ADVISE ME!!! Thanks to all for help, Barry B.

Well I'm certainly no expert, but in '75 there were two 250's made. A CR250 and an MT250. The Cr was premix, the mt had oil injection. So, if your bike has no oil tank, and no oil injection setup, you have a cr. Just to check, I'd look at the neck where the vin # is. It will say which model it is. Also, look down on the motor at the number there. It will tell the truth too. The I'd/reference section on this site can clarify anybody this.

Hi Mr. E. It is an MT250 totally, but someone has REMOVED the tank system. So my question is...is premixing good enough, no mechanical problems or anything of the like. BB

The MT250 oil pump relies on oil from the injection tank for its internal lubrication, so if the bike's been ridden for a while with no oil tank the pump is almost certainly ruined. As long as the injection-port hole in the intake manifold has been sealed off, pre-mix will be fine.

Yes you will be fine, just mix your ratio to 32:1 and make sure the oil line inlet nipple on the intake manifold is closed off.
