I have an 86 CR500 in fantastic shape I just bought from the original owner. Unfortunately it sat for years and the water and coolant mixture turned into a corrosive mess (this is a common mishap for these) and ate up a good portion of the case. Does anyone have any ideas on where I can locate an NOS piece? It's the same for both 85 and 86 and is listed as part number 11340-KA5-690 I believe.

Any thoughts or ideas other than EBay are much appreciated. :(

Contact Terry at Western Honda Cincinnati 513-662-7759 and get him to check his inventory and run a parts locator if he doesn't have it. Ebay and Ebay UK is a good place to look also. You may have to buy a used one. A corroded cover can be repaired too. Love them or hate them, ebay is a great resource.

You can use a 2001 CR 500R. Just Google to see the parts you need to go with it. Its all aluminum and will not rot out like the magnesium one. Or buy a use one and use engine ice coolant that does not attack magnesium.
