I went out to my mega stash O snore parts for a look see for you.
You WILL need to split the cases. see photos:
IF you need to remove the kickstart shaft it WILL just come out. Problem is when you re install the new one the kick start return spring (which is inside the cases) will be almost impossible to orient
and find as it can just fall free in the cases.
I just tried it on the bench and it was a no go.
Split the cases to R & R a kickstart shaft.
While ur in there check ALL the shift forks for any signs of galling on their sides or for any bent ones. replace if u c galling and then clean the slider counterpart they fit in to remove any burrs.
Check the shift fork shafts in "V" blocks for bent ones, lightly polish the surfaces with OO steel wool.
Match the cylinder transfers to the case transfers (be sure to match the base gasket after.
Polish the intake side of the rod.
Thread lock the kickstart pin/nut/allen.
replace all seals.
go out and win!
