Im working on an MT250, it doesn't have the filter cage or foam in it currently. I have found UNI foam, but dont want to pay $50+ for a new cage. Does anyone know of a K&N or other filter that is sturdy on its own that will work in the 250 box? Or if someone has a cage they'll sell cheap.

My friend got a UNI NU-4012 filter for his MT w/internal frame between the foam layers, which doesn't require the Honda cage.

Thanks, I had seen that one but didn't realize there was mesh inside the foam. Little pricy but its cheeper than buying the stock mesh.

My other idea was trying to get some chicken wire or similar to form a similar cage, then wrap it in generic lawn mower foam. Likely some zipties to hold it all together. Honestly not sure if that would even be cheaper though once its all said and done.

DO NOT USE A K&N.
They co$t me 11 pistons, 1 sleeve, 1 crank, numerous rotary valves and more downtime than uptime in 1975-1977 (pre FedEx and UPS days)for my 125 Can-Am enduro.
They don't filter the silt...isn't that what filters are for? [shrugs]

As for rolling your own, UNI sells foam a flat piece of foam around 15 inches square. Stitch the seam. Glue won't last.
