Post subject:  1976 MR175 Clutch Problem

My 1976 MR175 has been under a lot of maintenance lately. I have practically worked on the bike front to back. I was able to get the bike started a few days ago. It was able to run on its own and it idled very well. Unfortunately, as luck would have it, my bike will not start up again. I can kick it all damn day and it won't start. I have even tried spraying starter fluid into the air-box and it didn't help.

My clutch lever/cable is also very loose. If I pull in the clutch lever while in gear, it does not roll freely like it should. I wonder if these two issues have any correlation? If the clutch does not have any direct relation to the bike failing to start, I still do not understand why it is all floppy and loose or as to why the bike will not start all of the sudden.

The clutch arm on the right side of the crankcase still moves back and forth when I pull in the lever, but it does not actuate the gears. I have tried fine adjustments on the handlebars and down by the clutch arm, no luck. I may have messed something up while putting the crankcase back together after replacing the pawl spring. And yes, I did fill the crankcase with oil after putting it back together.

Any ideas or assistance would be appreciated!!! :D

It turns out, I have answered my own question. The clutch issue was due to a loose clutch adjustment screw on the other side of the center cap on the right crankcase. My starting issue was due to a loose spark plug in the head. Dumb little mistakes
