I'm getting the itch to run my 1988 CR250 somewhere and was wondering what my options are? Thanks!

Southern California: SVRG races primarily at Glen Helen (REM and National tracks), but also Piru. They run a Decade class that races with the Modern Support bikes. CalVMX races primarily at a new old school track at Amago. They do not yet have a Decade class but you could run in Modern Support. Some guys even run their post-vintage bikes in this class for extra track time.

Thanks Michael,

Maybe I'll try to get down your way some time and bring my 1988 with me. How are your projects coming along?

I heard that some guys run there 1983 CR480's in modern Vet classes and the bike holds it own. :D

The 2005 SVRG schedule is posted and they are running at Glen Helen (REM track), Piru, Competition Park and some joint events with AVRDA at Speedworld (Wittman, AZ). There will be two opportunities to run on a modified Glen Helen National track - the Vintage Iron World Championships and I assume the November event at Glen Helen. Trying to make Tulare next weekend, but will definitely be at the AHRMA events at Handford, Madera and Honey Lake events up your way...

I have put the 1987 CR250R on the back-burner and will be focusing on the 1979 CR250R (GP250 class) and the 1983 CR480R (40+ Post-Vintage) for at least the first half of the year...

Michael,

I just heard the Tulare event has been cancelled (It will rain all week). Hanford and Madera are so-so, but you should get up to Honey Lake. :D

I want to bring my 88 down to Glenn Helen sometime this year. My in-laws live in Bakersfield so it is an easy sell with the wife.

Running on the Glen Helen National track even though modified for older bikes will make it worth the trip...

California Vintage MX is now running a 1984-1999 GP4 class at its events...
