Hi,

New guy here.

I just came into a 1986 YZ490 thet sat in the rain without the airbox, side panel, or seat for a couple of years.

On removal of the reed cage I find the crankcase full of water.

I'll need a good service manual to get into it and am asking which one of the several I have seen on Ebay would be the most detailed and error free?

Thanks,

Dan

Let me expand on this a little.

There is what looks to be a genuine Yamaha manual available that is titled "Owners manual and Service". Does it get into taking things apart or just the normal owner maintenance stuff?

There's another from New Zeland that is a reproduction containing some 140 pages in English. Anyone familiar with this one?

And then there's Clymer. Any others that are better?

I'm wanting the disassembly procedure to split the cases and the spec's for reassembly. I figure I'll need a good different crank with a new rod, and probably work on the top end too.

Thanks,
Dan
