Post subject:  1984 YZ80 Restoration

I picked up this 84 YZ80 for $100.00. I'm going to start a restoration on it. It needs alot of work. The motor is shot, both top and bottom ends. Crank bearings are bad but it had a new piston in it. Someone bored the cylinder and did not chamfer the ports so the piston is scored. Cylinder base gasket was on upside down. Forks, radiator and rear rim is bent. I had an 83 YZ80 back in 1983 so this bike brings back memories.

Looks like a good project you have there. Alot of parts will interchange for those years I currently have four 82 yz80's two together & two basket cases plus one 83 frame wheel combo that I picked up looking for wheels for the 82.I managed to find an engine for the 83 frame out of a 91 or 92 yz that's supposedly in decent shape. If you troll around the internet, looking for parts, you'll be amazed at what can be picked up for cheap...
