i did some more work, this time on the horn and i did improve it some, still not a super loud horn and almost on par with my 1975 DT400 and 1968 DT1.

i used this tool to test the horn, click the image to play the video,it is the first time i used it on a 6 volt system and it works great for that too.

i used it to put a straight 6.3 volts to the horn and it sounded much stronger than it did hooked up to the bike's electrical system.

this is battery voltage with the key off.

this is a before and after set of videos.

this is before.

this video is after the horn switch was cleaned up,it is a bit better than before but it is not super loud.at least now a MVI inspector should hear it over the engine.

little to nothing will interchange on the 74-76 125 and the 78-81 125,they are totally different from one or another.the engine in particular besides the chassis is totally different.

If you guy's are waiting for a response from Dave, it will be awhile. He is in the hospital and is doing better as of today. He should be back soon.

here is a ride video,it is simply jetted too rich for now,the engine has just over 100 miles on it but according to the man that did my cylinder it is ready to start tuning for power.

Image

i was hitting 60-65 mph and on on the return trip but it started to run out of fuel.

i reached down and turned the fuel back on so it saved the engine.

this bike is already much faster than a stock 1978 DT175 as most of them struggle to reach 55 mph,let alone 60!

the blubbering is the hint of this as it blubbered at 6500 rpm.

this engine has the stock 24 mm carb on it currently. the 26mm YZ 80 carb and with a tuned pipe should be good for 10,000 rpm + .i am running a RT180 pipe right now because the 1978 DT175 pipe is truly horrible.

i also need to upgrade the clutch with Barnett Plates.even in it's weakened form the clutch slips slightly shifting into 6th gear.
