it looks like it could be a IT250 or 400 perhaps.it may even say IT250 or IT400 in the vin number, perhaps if you have the vin number we can go from there as it would help there. |

VIN looks like 1W2-024214. The very first 1 looks kind of odd though. It could maybe even be a 9. |

Cool! Nice work. I thought it would have been bigger than that. I checked that first site but missed it somehow. |

the IT175 was a great bike and they put out over 25 HP and would spin up to 9500 or so.they had huge carbs for a 175 and i think they were 34 mm units. it would be a great bike to fix up if you wanted. the 79-80 IT175 engine was quite different and no parts i know of would interchange. the 77-78 IT175 parts do come up on Ebay quite a bit though. i thought it would had been a 250 or 400 due to the beefy looking chassis but the IT175 was a pretty stout machine for a 175.it can hang with the other Enduro race bikes like a Suzuki PE175 or Kawasaki KDX175 from that period. if you want real grunt, find a IT465 or 490 from the early 80's. i got to ride a 1982 PE175 years ago and that was one stout 175,i am hoping my hopped up DT175 will be like that or close to it.that IT should be as impressive as a PE175 is bone stock. |

I'm not going to fix it. As far as vintage Yamahas go I prefer dual rear shocks. I've got several TT/XT500s and a 71 RT1 and a 74 DT360, both stripped down for dirt only. A buddy of mine had an IT175, chain was on the opposite side. |

i know what you mean there,i like the twin shock bikes really well and my 1970 RT1M and 1975 DT400B are some of my favorites.i got a 1978 DT175 that was someone Else's parts bike at one time but i am restoring it for a change of pace. i would love to get a TT500 sometime but i already have several project bikes i need to complete first. |
