Hi, I have a 76 rm125 with bent forks. I've found a set of 1980 forks that are really inexpensive, but I don't know what early models can interchange with the hub and axle configuration and size I have. Anyone know about cross referencing the forks on early model rms. It looks like most early forks have the knob that fits in the slot of the hub, but I'm not sure. Thanks.

With the '76 RM125A models (and earlier '75 RM125M and S models), you have to either find a set of forks for the '76 A model or a front end from a '77B or '78C model RM125 (forks and wheel, your '76 triple clamps should work). The '76 RM125A forks were not "leading axle" type like the '77-'78 forks. The '76 hub is different and will not bolt up to the later model '77-'78 forks. If you're going to race it, I would personally get a front wheel & forks from a '77-'78 RM125B/C. They are longer travel and better feeling forks. I am currently doing this same type of modification to a '77 RM100B (which is really just a sleeved down '76 RM125A). It has the same front end as your RM125A. I have moved a complete front end from my '77 RM125B over to the RM100B. Bolts right up, no problems. If you're interested, I have a set of 77 RM100 forks, front wheel and triples that I can sell, or a set of '78 RM125C forks and front wheel also. Let me know if you are interested and I can send you some photos of the stuff. Good luck!

Kevin

Would anyone happen to know if the 1980 RM400 fork inner workings would fit in a set of '79 RM400 forks? Racetech sells springs and valves for the '80 model, but not the '79...
