got a 1978 RM400 for free! was just wondering what kind of oil/fuel ratio to put in it and what type of oil i should be using in the bottom end? the carb is stock and has stock jetting.

A good starting point would be a 20:1 if indeed the jetting is stock. I would try that and see how it runs, since you did not mention your location. I have alwys run my Suzuki RM's @ 32:1 using Golden Spectro without any issues. Tranny/Clutch oil is a personal choice IMHO. I use Castrol 20w50, but I know of some that use different oils and different weights.
