Post subject:  Frozen Flywheel

I need some advice. The flywheel on my 1974 250WR is frozen. I have the correct flywheel puller. The threads in the flywheel were so rusty that I couldn't screw in the puller all the way. I have since cleaned the threads out so I could screw in the puller all the way. I've tried penetrating oil, tapping on the bolt and on the flywheel to jar it loose.

It has sat for the past two days with the puller bolt tightened down as tight as I can get it and the flywheel has not budged. I've thought about using heat and/or cold, but I'm not sure where to apply either.

Thanks!
Barry

Had the same issue many times, I'm afraid heat is the only way to release the taper grip. Yes, you may damage the underlying parts so be prepared for that.
First, try a mix of transmission fluid and brake fluid 50/50, its an old tractor piston to liner unstick trick, but I'm afraid heat is the only way.
