Hello, Does anybody know how to make these bikes shift better? I have a 1974 Rickman 125MX with a Zundapp engine. No mods yet, but looking for a E.C. Brit pipe. |

Contact John Wernsdorfer at WRS, 717-246-1554. He has raced, bought/sold, and fixed many Rick-zaps over the years. I know he has the parts and knowledge to fix your tranny problem. As for the E.C Brit pipe, I believe you are looking for an E.C. Burt pipe. I thought EC died in the late 80's, but i thought one of my friends was dead , and he e-mailed me the other day. |

A KTM dealer (Canada) told me to use Shell Mercon ATF as trans oil. My bike is not easy to shift but is OK. I never rode the bike with 80 wt. as recommended. From what I have read, you must shift with authority. Does your bike have the stop mounted above the shift lever. If using ATF, I understand the oil should be changed frequently. Sterling |

FYI Mercon ATF is roughly 75w gear oil weight. A good motorcycle specific trans lube at 80w has more additive goodies in the mix to make shifting more likable than straight ATF. Original Dirt |
