Post subject:  1971 Eastern star?

Hello,
I am getting ready to restore a 1971 bike, it is kind of a mystery. I can not find any information on the web about this bike or its maker. The motor says it is an "Eastenstar" and the tag on the front fork says "ALGO" Dist. LTD 1971. The shift lever is broke and who knows when the last time it ran was. I think I am just going to pull off the motor and put on a LIFAN 125CC, any thoughts? I just want to put it together for my kids to ride around on. I imagine it is going to turn into a full resto if I know my history, I have a hard time not restoring things once I start. This will be my first bike so I am just looking for a jumping off point. I am open to any suggestions or thoughts. Thanks

I took off the chain guard and the cover for the magnito or clutch, it says that it is a Kokusan Denki Co Made in Japan. I don't know if any one can help me figure out what kind of bike this is. I would like to be able get this thing going but I can't figure out who made it. Thank you!
