Vintage Dirt Bike Q & A

Hello my 1981 cr80 is running pretty good but at idle the bike runs alittle bit fast for about 20 seconds than the engine rpm drops to the correct idle. The carb seems clean and i dont think there is any air leaks.I have a 50 pilot jet.I am not to sure if i should go leaner(45) on the pilot or richer (55)on the pilot jet. any ideas?? thanks john

50 pilot ist std. may your air screw is opened too much. 2 turns out is std.
check the thottle and gascable.

thanks for the response.It looks like my idle screw is bent a little bit and the slide has a little wear mark in it where the idle screw touches the slidle. Just going to see where i can get the parts now. thanks john
