here are some more pics of 79 cr250 resto and pics of powder coat oven I built to get frame into. frame, springs, seat brackets,swingarm, hubs, brake pedal, triple clamps not in pics, foot pegs ( IMS ) all are powder coated.gas tank done with rattle can bacuse of filler also posted b-4 pic

Awesome looking bike. I have a 1980 CR250 and am thinking about buying a 1979 CR250. Is the 1979 CR250 that much more valuable bike for AHRMA, ect. Thanks

the 79 & 80 are very similar.I think the 80 has a plastic tank the 79 tank is aluminum ( good luck finding one without dents ), resevoir shocks and the cylinder exhaust port is not bridged other than that they are the same machine. the vintage class by me you can either one, there rules are no disc brakes, not water cooled and no linkage suspension so a lot of guys are running early mono shock yamahas ( shock under gas tank ) the rules are different everywhere @ Unadilla national amateur event there vintage class is any thing more than 6 years old!!I could race my yz450f there so check with your local race promoters to see what there rules are, Craig

Thanks Craig. Since my first post I have contacted AHRMA and according to the guy I talked with my 1980 fits into the Gran Prix class the same as the 1979 so I think I am good. It just seems like all the restored bikes are 1979 and I thought it must be more valueable due to the AHRMA class being pre 1980. Looks like I was wrong. Thanks for your response and again you have a cool looking bike.

rick, If I was you I would stay with the 80. $500.00 saved on the 79 can allways be used on your present bike,from experience I can tell you restoration is not cheap I have about $3000.00 into my 79 allready and I still need new front rim and spokes! Craig
