Vintage Dirt Bike Q & A

how's it going everyone.
I just picked up an 83 cr250 that i'm restoring. i thought someone had painted the engine, but after taking a better look, it's a factory coat. i googled it to see if it was anything special, but all i seemed to find was air-cooled ones, from the 79. nothing on the 83...could someone please shed some light on this for me and tell me what i have exactly?

red rocket was the unofficial name for the cr250 78-80.

mines identical to the picture, only the engine in flash red... and hasn't been painted. must be a swap ?!?!?!?

guess someone has installed a 81 engine, this was red, and different in many parts.

ahhhh ya found her!!! thanks now i'll know what to order parts for. any reason why it was red?

Red? Black? What about silver?

Oh never mind, I can't get the photo to upload that would have made sense out of that.

Keep in mind that just because the engine is red doesn't automatically means it's an '81 model. Someone could have painted the '83 model's engine red.
