Hi guys ,
New guy, been looking for a 73/74 250elsinore for many years. Just bought a well documented bike.
Trying to figure out whether the million dollar question can be answered. What year is it.
This bike's vin and engine numbers match the title and original owners bill of sale.
The title says the bike was transfered to the dealer 31Jan74....the Honda Title clearly says 1973
The bike was sold to owner in april 74....the bill of sale from dealer to new owner says 1974.
The frame vin puts this bike as the 14340th bike made.....assuming 216 was the start of the vins.
Anybody else have any info on well documented elsinores.

By the way looks like a nice site

73/74elsie

The stories I have read, mostly in VMX magazine, that there are no differences in the years with the exception being the very early models had a billet crank. Honda was selling so many that there was no need to update. Here is what you find if you look it up in the Honda Motorcycle Identification Guide -

Here is my old Elsinore with the neighbor kid on it, any guess on what year it was??

Hey Gary,
Nice old pic, I see rear shocks moved a bit forward...hmmm
Anyways this is exactly my point concerning vins and date of manufacture.....I have paperwork that shows that Honda says that my serial number 10xxxxxxx is a 73, delivered to a dealer on 31 jan 74.
So up to my number at least would be a 73.
Just wondering if anybody out there has documented numbers that would at least get us in the ballpark.
Wish I had some old pics of my elsinore as a kid...I think my dad has some 8mm of a race in western mn.
Haven't seen it for years though..

I wish now I had kept the serial numbers but it was a 73/74. Lengthened swingarm, moved foward Curnutt shocks, plastic tank, air forks everything done to it that would make it worthless today! Post some pictures of yours. A number of years ago I put my riding buddys CR back together that he had when I had mine. Could not believe how loud that thing was, didn't remember how loud the exhaust was or how loud the straight cut primary's were. Here a picture of one of my current rides, not quite as powerful but still not bad for what I do now.Image
Here is another vintage picture and one 20yrs later in the same spot with another current ride Image Image
