 Post subject: head pipe sealing advise

does anyone have tips or tricks for sealing headpipes? the 80 and 81 cr80's i have appear to have no o-ring or seal other than just a slip fit and leak like crazy. it make a mess and must affect performance of the motor. any ideas???

I have a '73 CR250M that does not have any factor seal and used to leak. I took an o-ring from FMF, forgot the size and PN, and put it around the exhaust pipe joint coming out of the engine. I also run a bead of high temp sealant (red) around the pipe joint and on the inside of the pipe and slap them together. I also use the sealant at the silencer end of things as well. Cuts out all the leakage.
