I have an '82 Honda CR480R. It runs wery well. I also have an '83 CR480R. The problem is, the '83 bike is missing some expensive parts like the clutch basket and other parts. I'm wondering if I can transfer the '82 engine parts to the '83 engine. I want to keep the 5-speed gearbox and head from the '83 engine. I know the head and the 5-speed gearbox are OK on the '83 engine.

Best regards

Kenneth Sjàberg

Kenneth,

From what I have read this will not be possible. The crank, rod, piston, cylinder and head will interchange, but the lower end is different.

I was disappointed to find this out, because it further limits the availablility of finding good used parts. :(
