Are wide footpegs available for the 1978-80 CR250? I have heard that 1995 CR pegs work with modification, but I'm not too sure. I have seen some post that they have IMS pegs, but I have not been able to find them.

For those that care, I have found the wide footpegs available for the XR50/CRF50 fit perfectly on my 74 CR125.

I have modified IMS pegs on one of my '79 CR250R's and I like the pegs, but hate the decreased space between the front of the peg and shift lever. It makes it very easy to accidently shift out of the gear you're in, expecially when you're going through whoops or when you're in the air. I've been trying to find a shift lever that is longer than the stock lever. That would fix the problem. If you know of one, let me know.

I too have modified IMS pegs and love them. Even with the stock pegs the gear lever is a bit tight. The only solution I have heard of is to buy a after-market lever that fits the shaft and the weld and extension in the middle...

I put 2003 CRF450 footpegs on my '79 CR250. I bought them on ebay for about $30. You do have to remove some material to make them fit. If you're careful you can shape them so they have a fold-up stop surface. I used 2000/01 CR250 footpeg springs (flipped around and trimmed- about $2.75 each).

The 2003 CRF450 pegs sit lower than the 2000/01 CR pegs which helps shifting. A dremel with a cutting wheel, and a belt sander made the job a breeze. Remove material slowly so they fit right.

I've tried later model pegs. They tend to droop after riding hard. What I used this past season was the stock pegs properly cut and fitted. Buy WP foot peg wideners and cut out enough material to fit in wideners. You can then weld both sides. I have had no problem through a full season. You still have to lengthen your shifter. I buy a Moose 11 or 13 shift lever. I then cut and straighten out the lever. Make the lever approximately 5.5" from the peg. Hope this helps.

I know vintage iron http://www.vintageiron.com/ has replacement, wide footpegs available for 100+ dollars. They also list some weld on for about $35. Has anyone installed either of these on their 250? :?:

On my 73 CR250 I took a couple of pieces of 1.5" band steel, wrapped them around the stock foot pegs raised the peg height about .5" and extended them out about 1.5" inches and welded them on.
