I have an old MR175 crankcase and need to take 2 cylinder studs out to put into another MR175 crankcase. I'm concerned that after 30 years the steel studs will have bonded themselves to the aluminum. Has anyone got any tips for getting them out without buggering them up. I don't care about the crankcase, just the studs.
Alternatively, does anyone out there have 2 MR175 cylinder studs to sell, in good condition. Thanks.
Mark

To get head studs out I heat the cylinder up in the Barbaque and use vice grips to unscrew them. Use oven mits and many rags. If they are stuck try using an ice cube on the stud while the cases are hot to get them to release. If the cases are busted anyway you might be able to break the cases away from the studs without ruining the threads. Good luck and wear goggles.
