Im almost 100% new in this dirt bike area. I owned an old used Huskvarna back in early eighties, wich could be logical since i live in Sweden 100km north of Jönköping where they was manufatured.

Anyway last Sunday by a chance I became the happy owner of a 1980 CR250 the VIN number starts with ME.

I did a search of on the web, and found that often they where referred to as Elsinore’s.

But I can’t find any info why they have that name?
And is my 1980 an real Elsinore?

Enlighten me please :-)

I believe the name is a reference to the Lake Elsinore Grand Prix that was very popular in the 70s. Check out the movie "On Any Sunday" starring Steve McQueen riding under the assumed name Harvey Mushman to avoid the studio discovering his hobby of riding dirt bikes. "Elsinores" run from 1973 (?) through 1981 so yours is an Elsinore. Also the 1978 through 1980 bikes were known as Red Rockets because of the all red paint job.

Well the first bit of good news is you have ex-Husqvarna Ohlins shocks, rather than the stock Showas....
