I'm going to be powdercoating my hubs and installing new spokes and rims.

Do you think I should keep the stock 18" rear rim size or change to the modern 19"? Would the lower profile tire be too stiff for the non-modern suspension (eventhough I have new Works shocks)?

If I go with the 19" I can use the same size tires as my CRF450.

I know color is more of a personal preference, but do you think it would look odd or cool with black rims?

Peace
JBACE

I would not expect the 19" rim and tire choice to have a significant impact on your suspension action (spring rate, damping etc.). The purists will reel in horror at a modern rim size and black color. I think you can go either way.

I run black Excel rims on my 1978 CR250 and the rear one is a 19". The black rims are a matter of opinion, I love them, some don't. The 19" rim works great, I couldn't be happier.
I've got photos but don't know how to post them. Check http://www.red-devil-racing.com and you'll see the bike
