Vintage Dirt Bike Q & A

Folks
Need some help with the wiring on a 73-74 250m. I basically pieced this bike together from spare parts and plan on using a push button kill switch that has a black and green wire, not the stock switch. Ok, I have the red cloth wire coming from the points that hook into a Y connector. The y then branches off with one wire to the the coil ( this works I'm getting spark! ) the other then goes up to the kill switch, this is where I need some clarification. I assume the wire which is black then hooks with black of the kill button then the green feeds out and goes where?? To a ground I suppose?? Does this ground on the coil? if so which side ?? The side where the plug wire comes out??

Looking at the wiring diagram. The green wire grounds to the coil on the
opposite side of the plug wire. Red wire and plug wire on one side, green
wire on the other.
