I am rebuilding the OEM shocks on my '74 CR250 and have discovered
a missing part that I need help in locating a replacement or suitable
substitute. The damper piston has a butt cut wear ring (looks like a
small piston ring) that fits in a groove on the piston. One of my shocks
is missing this ring. It measures 24mm X 1mm X 2mm (OD X CS X HT).
This is obviously a necessary part for the shock to work correctly but
is not available from Honda - it is depicted in the parts diagram but is
only available as a complete damper assembly which you know you can't
get anymore. Does anybody know a source for these or is this another one
of those parts that will have to be custom made? This restoration is so close
to being done inspite of the many setbacks caused by the sad excuse for a
bike I had to start this project with, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the response Elsinorestuff. I have sent a couple of emails to the address you listed but haven't heard back. These are the original fin style shocks and yes I would be interested if you have a reasonable example of one you want to part with.

Dog,

The easiest fix is to buy a clean pair on e bay. There cheap and plentiful.

Thanks for the tip. Elsinorestuff is hooking me up with the wear ring but I will probably pick up some "spares"
from Ebay for future use.
