Has anyone used air caps on the forks of a 74 CR250M or similar?

I just ordered some stiffer springs for my forks and I'm wondering if pressurizing the forks with a pound or two would keep them from bottoming out.

If this matters...I'm 6'3" and 205 lbs.

In my last race, which was my first race, I hit this one tabletop jump and bottomed out the forks a couple times. The rear shocks seemed fine.

I also heard that adding a little extra fork oil can help but I want to hear from those who have the experience before I try more oil or air caps.

Thanks,
:D

I found a nos al baker fork kit on ebay for my forks but it cost me 200 bucks. I was wondering where you ordered your fork springs as I want to do a rebuild on mine when I install the al baker kit I just dont trust the 34 year old springs. I would also like some air caps but have only seen them for the cr125 but havnt really looked very hard.

I use air caps with 5lbs. of air, but I don't have stiffer springs. I'm 6'2" and 220. A little extra oil helps too, but I would experiment with those stiffer springs before doing the other stuff too.

You can get new stiffer fork springs from Vintage Iron. I used a set along with 165 cc of 15 w fork oil to really
firm up my forks. If you decide to use air caps as well, I would replace the fork seals if the ones you have are
old.
