I just saw on the vmxracing web-site they have alumimum swingarms for my 1980 CR250. Does anyone have any experience on the effect this would have vs. the stock swingarm? Just curious on whether the impact is minimal or substantial and why.

Thanks,

Clint

I have one on my 80 cr250. Very nice quality. I ended up making my own wheel spacers and chain tensioners. I also ended up ordering one of his break torque arms after locating several later model aluminum that I was going to modify. After looking at McMaster Carr and the price of floating rod ends, cutting and welding it was cheaper to buy one of his.The only draw back is you can't run the lower front chain roller, I tried turning mine down on my lathe to as small as possible and it ended up bending the bolt. so I dont run it. I called VMX and he said he doesnt run his either. He did say there was some guy in florida making an offset bracket to lower the roller. Bottom line, it's worth it if you beef up the forks too.

Lighter, stronger and longer than the stock 1978 and 1979 for stability. Jastco (http://www.jastco.com) does a torque arm that connects to the footpeg bolt allowing the forward chain roller to be mounted lower to clear the swing arm. The VMX arm is a Fox replica and the banana shape produces a rising rate suspension. The straighter DG and Thor replica arms preserve the stock falling rate.
