I have used ATF for years. Bikes use a wet sump clutch just like an automatic transmission. Only diffrence is that we change the gears instead of fluid, springs, and vacuum doing it automatically. Also to heavy of a viscosity will rob you of horsepower. The heavy oil slows down the rotating gears. Thats why V8 racing engines use windage trays to keep the oil off the crank and rods. Plus the ATF fluid have additives to help the fiber friction plates grab better and wear longer.
