Thought I would re-introduce myself. Been gone a couple of years, but see alot of names from back then. Blew up my MR 250 and parked it back then. Started building my truck. It's finished and would'nt you know, theres's an MR for sale down the road. Went and bought the damned thing, drug it home and fired up the old elsinore site. Here you guys are, outfreakinstanding! Got 2 projects going on the table. 1) transplant the "new" motor into the "old" frame. Gonna pull the head and see how big the overbore is (this time) and get into the dirt. 2) picked up a 76 xs360 (yes it's a yamaha) to build a little street tracker out of. You will be pleased to know (I hope) that there is going to be a few MR part involved. Wanting to use the front end, shocks and pegs at least. What's happening here?

Welcome back!! And we must all remember that a Keihin from a CR does not have a third jet, so requires a much larger main jet than an MR Keihin!! I finally got rid of my Keihin and went to a Mikuni. No more smoke and runs great. Best $140 I ever spent.
Got pics of the new MR??

Pics? Hell, if I knew how to take pics,I wouldn't know how to get them into this box! Besides the ol' girl aint worth wastin' film on. The motor is complete and hopefully by tuesday night it'll be out and the head off so I know what I'm dealing with. Then I'll go from there. So, your ol' scoot is still runnin' strong? Very cool! After I scrapped the old motor (very stupid, I know) I got into building my old 47 IH truck. Then, friday night I find this bike on craigs list and me and the old truck made a trip to St. Lou to bring it home.

Running better than ever. Put a new piston in it last winter and tore down the bottom to re-install another set of seals--but there was nothing wrong with the first set I put in. The needle and needle jet on the carb were simply worn out and I couldn't find replacements, so I went with the Mikuni 36mm and love it. Got a CR tank and seat on it now so it looks really fast!! Funny, but my bike is from St. Louis too!! Some dealership up there must have sold a lot of MRs in 1976. I was up in your neck of the woods in August as my oldest girl and her new husband live there. My son in law and I took my three-year-old up to Chi town to a Cubs game. After the game I watched my rocket-scientist son-in-law lose $300 to a guy running a shell game on the redline. I'm not the smartest man in the world, but I knew by age 10 you don't play a shell game unless you want to give your money away!
Good luck on the MR!!
