b-joe,

your forks look like mine. It is not smooth between the triple clamps and i have the same top/air caps. i bought them from the internet so I personally didnt take them off a 1982 bike. having said that the emulators i bought were for the 82 kayaba and they fit fine. hope this helps.

Thanks guys, so yes, I have a 82 Kayaba on the XR500R and a 83 Showa on the C&J. Finally clear! :)
