I think Babbitt's was about $66 plus shipping. You could also try eBay - these coils come up fairly often, but used and in unknown condition, of course.

Babbit's wanted like $17 shipping I think... I believe I'll go with the Honda dealer, and support local business ;)

Ok I have another question... when I google the part number for the coil, it comes up with the MT125 coil as the same part number. I was wondering, is the condenser on the MT125 the same as the MR? since I can buy it seperete from the coil for alot cheaper.

Jesse,

I'm almost positive the coil assembly comes with the condensor, so you won't need to buy it separately. I can't find a part number for the condensor, so it seems it's not available by itself anyway.

I meant the MT125 condenser ;) I wanted to buy it seperate in case it's the only thing bad... saves me $$$ unless the coil is bad to. What I wanted to know is if the MT125's condenser is the same as the MR175's?

Jesse,

I believe it's the same condensor, since the coil assemblies (including condensors) are the same for the MR175 and MT125.

Are you absolutely sure the coil and/or condensor are bad? My MR175 coil reads about 1.5 ohms from the black-white input wire to the coil case, and about 10,000 ohms from the case to the plug cap terminal. If your coil reads the same, I wouldn't replace it. I also read around 800 picofarads (pF) capacitance across the black/white wire and plug cap, which is the condensor in parallel with the coil input winding; if you read something completely different, it's possible your condensor is bad.

Just FYI - condensors have been called 'capacitors' just about everywhere since the 1950's, except in Japanese motorcycle parts lists. :)

Well it took an extra week for the coil to ship coming from Cali, but it finally got here today. :D I put it on the bike, and after messing around with the wiring (hooked up green and black w/ wight stripe wire's, as I don't have kill switch yet) I got a nice shock when i held spark plug and kicked. :) now I have to find some kind of kill switch, and put gas tank and seat back on, fill it up, and see if it starts!
