I have an 81 CR450 that has hatched. I been searching the net and have searched this data base for information pertaining to the stock bore size and the max size that it can be bored out to and still find replacement piston and rings. Every thing I have found for information on this bike so far, pretty much states that it is one of the worst bikes ever sold to the public. I do not doubt that at all. I can say that I did have a lot of fun on it until it blew. I do have to say it seems like one of the most deadly bikes I have ever ridden and it seems like its power band is all or nothing. You are ether at a standstill or rolling or wide open and your eyes tearing up as the engine screams and you are hanging on for dear life. Seems like no happy medium no matter what adjustments to carburetion are made. Does anyone know what this bike can be bored out to and where I can get parts? As to a new piston and rings. I saw someone asked if a cr480 jug would fit in place? They never got an answer; does it mean that it cannot be done? I hope someone can help me out. I would love to get this junk pile back in the dirt and see what other body parts I can damage. What is the stock bore size? If anyone knows that also. Thank you all. ……………Twisted |
