Hello, I have a 74 cr250m elsinore that I bought back in Dec. The bike has set for several years, the guy I bought it from said he had it running and started messing with the timing and it never run again, I set the time, gapped the points correctly and the bike had fire, I tried to start, and no fuel, I put a little gas down the cylinder and the bike fired, so I removed the carb and cleaned very good, this is where the problem starts, I put the carb back on the bike, turned the fuel on and now the carb is overflowing thru the overflow tubes, I think I probably have something under float valve, and also the jet holder in the bottom of the carb, the piece that looks like a bowl. Does this face upward as if a bowl was setting on a table, or downward as if the bowl was upside down? I have downloaded the manual and the page that shows the carb detail is kinda hard to see the jet holders position, If anyone can think of other areas that I need to be looking at , any help would be appreciated. The cup faces down. Sounds like you have your floats set wrong. It is possible to put them in upside down or lost the needle vavle, but more likely you just have them out of adjustment. As someone mentioned here, you can just have the carburetor attached to the fuel line with the float bowl off. Turn the fuel on and you should be able to start and stop the flow of fuel out the carb by just raising the floats with your finger. The fuel should shut off with the floats are level and not require much force at all. |

Thanks guys, The float was out of adjustment, re-adjusted the float, and now the bike will start , just needs some fine tune adjustthe timing and a few other things. Thanks again |
