I have 2 sets of reeds pictured here, both out of identical motors
1980 Honda cr250r....can somebody tell me the difference because there definately is....which one would be the better of the two...thanks garry

one on the left is original stainless petals...they can wreck your top end when they fatigue and break off.

Reed on right is original cage with dual stage Boyesen fibre reeds.
These work better and increase bottom end throttle response because the lighter top reed opens earlier then heavier lower petal opens for higher flow.

Expat....thanks, I'll try the Boyesen, have not ran the motor they came out of yet only got it running.
Nice collection of bikes you have, sure like to see a pic if you would be willing to share one

Sweet...nice collection....I especially like the "show pony"!

Wondered if you seen this one on ebay? I was getting pretty anxious to hit the bid button. Didn't sell, reserve not met at 4550...don't think I woulda sold it for 4550 if it were mine either.

update on the reed situation...the boyesen reeds look like they are history. Two reeds are turned up on one side and one base reed is showing a gap, so I'm assuming they are done or my reed cage is worn down from the reeds slapping.......googled boyesen and got myself an education, looks like I need to order some new reeds.
Get outa the bike scene for 30 years and look what happens.. don't know squat!
