Okay, now that I've got your attention (haha) how about some chit chat. I check this site a couple times per day/night looking for new posts.

I'm sure you guys have some funny race stories. Or comments about cool tricks you have found for your bike such as bailing wire and duct tape (or whatever)...

This place is way too cool to not be wayyy more lively!

My latest one... looking at the piston that came out of my little MT250, I discovered two cracks going all the way from the pin area (just below) almost all the way out to the center of the back of the piston. They were only about 1/2" from touching one another and then the whole back of the piston would have fallen off. Thank goodness, I didn't leave that thing in there or decided to replace it... that would have been a mess.

BTW, what is the overall impression of the MR250? I know where a complete cream puff is - still has the street legal stuff on it for the most part. The guy that has it is the original owner... what would something like that be worth? I believe it's a 1976, and he has discussed selling it to me in the past.

Would it be race worthy in stock trim in that years class? Isn't there a "classic" designation for basically stock bikes?

BTW sorry for the blasphemous title in this post! LOL I hope Nathan didn't have a heart attack or anything.

LOL Mike.
I think the MT is for nostalia only. Not a race bike by any means. CR's are for racing and waaayyyy different than a MT or MR. Neither will ever be as competitive as a CR.
There is no special class for stock or MT bikes but I like seeing a CR rider with a MT next to his racer to ride around on.

A friend of mine did an interview with several AHRMA racers last weekend at the Phoenix AHRMA event. Jim Pomeroy, Brad Lackey, retired 7' - 4" NBA star Rik Smets... Check it out on racer X online.

Hi Rick - it's the MR250 I'm curious about. An aquaintance has one that he's had since new. It still has all the OEM street legal stuff on it.

Hey Bobby M is a buddy of yours? Whew... that guy doesn't even know me and he HATES me. He goes out of his way to slam me for anything I say and/or do! LOL

It takes all kinds. I did see his story on Racer X just a few minutes ago but I didn't have a chance to read the interviews yet. I will prob tomorrow though. Looks like a long and hopefully good story/report.

How are your boys? Are any of them trying the back flip and/or are they DOING the back flip? Man, that looks dangerous. Freestyle has certainly changed a LOT in the last couple years!

My bad on the MT vs MR. I was going through my spare parts bins yesterday and had several MT parts that went straight to the garbage bin. Too heavy, too weak...
MR's are fun bikes. My cousin had a 175 back in '76. My biggest concern as a racer is the bottom end compression area. They are different than a Cr and would probably not be competitive outside of the novice class.

Don't worry about BobbyM. He just stirs up the poo. Actually a nice guy one on one. If you let him get under your skin he will keep poking. lol. I think he jumped on the band wagon too. Welcome to the internet.

Kids are doing backies into foam pits. John will pull them ramp to dirt in March. Can't risk injury when jobs are lined up. He just did a demo in your neck of the woods at Daytona Saturday before the Bud shootout. First time fmx at Nascar. They are doing it again before the Saturday Bush race and before the big show on Sunday.
Robert made the 14 rider cut in the IFMA so he is busy till April. Then off for 6 months.

Send me a pic of your bike.

Rick, did you hear about Mike Metzgers place almost burning down? I guess someone was practicing back flips into his foam pit (japanese rider?) and after he made an attempt, the bike was laying there leaking fuel everywhere. He got out of the pit, then WHOOSH it went up in flames. I dunno if they got the bike out or not, but the entire foam pit went up and I guess it was a smokey mess! LOL

Right on about the NASCAR thing. Tell them to keep into it with Daytona. Remember they are the ones that RUN NASCAR (the France family). If they get in with them, they could be following the NASCAR circuit putting on shows for the fans - and making fat stacks!

Daytona during Bike Week would be perfect for them - as well as Loudon New Hampshire during their bike week as the race is at the NASCAR race is the same time as the WIERS BEACH Bike Week which is just up the road from Loudon (New Hampshire International Speedway).

Just a thought - they could make money and expand the sport.

BTW, for those of you that don't know, Rick's kids are some of the best freestyle motocrossers in the world.

Name dropper. lol
The bike at Metz's is toast. Just a frame, misc hardware like bolts and bearings and such and molten blobs of alum. Chuck Carouthers went there today and is susposed to take some pics.
Thanks for the Loudon New Hampshire hint. I will see if Marc Burnette is on this already.

Rick, if you need help with Loudon, let me know. I know the owner in a round about way (of the speedway).
