I have a 76 CR125M with the stock carb and it runs really well with the right jetting. If I had to replace it, my experience with the 1974 CR 125M is a Mikuni 32 or 34 mm diameter carb is the way to go. In vintage racing, it seems the majority of people are using Mikuni's on the 74 CR125 and CR250. I see a lot of stock Keihins on the 76 CR125's that are still being raced, so I'm not sure how much you will gain in performance with a Mikuni. Keihin or Mikuni, jet it as good as you can get it and you should be OK.

Many thanks for your advice Carl.
You have confirmed what I have been advised by others.
I have decided to go for the VM32 Mikuni.

My bikes are stock standard and I will only be using standard jetting to start off. The "performance" I am after is just better starting and running. The Keihins I have are pretty scored out on the throttle slide and worn around the throttle screw stop and this all makes a difference.

Thanks very much to everyone who has given me sound mechanical advice on this board over 2006.
Heres to a more peaceful 2007.
