I went and looked at a 1979 Honda CR125 today. The guy is asking $700 and the bike is all there. The guy painted the plastic Honda red and repainted the red motor black. Its a good paint job but I rather have seen the bike before he painted it. Anyway the bike started on second kick and shifted through all the gears. The front forks and rear shocks sucks. I raced a 79 CR125 in 1979 and still remember how easy it was to wash the 23 inch front wheel out. Anyway I didn't buy it and I offered the guy $600 bucks. Would you buy it even if you didn't really want it..lol. |

Unless I had a history with that particular model I wouldn't. Having a model/bike you aren't interested in stands in the way of the ones you want. Doesn't matter if it is space, money, time, or desire that gets diluted. Rick |

I know one guy locally who seems to take pleasure in finding historic bargains and "flipping" them for a profit, but to me its pointless. If you want to make money for money's sake there are plenty more lucrative avenues. I am financially under water on all the bikes I've renovated or tricked out. But I have a connection with each that is worth more than money. If you really want something get it, and if the price is right, bonus!. Conversely punt on anything that you are less than 100% interested in. |
