This guy comes on here, I found this unridden bike, how much is it worth? Then we see it on ebay. When is it my turn to trip over a great deal. It wont be on ebay. |

I would not sell it. I would ride it maybe a few times (like up & down the street) however I wouldn't race it. Nice find! Looks like the silencer is somwhat different from the big bulky clamp on the 77 CR had on in the US? |

Following my other post (see brand new cr125), I decided to buy the other bike that was available. The condition of the 2nd bike is not as nice as the 1st, therefore I have decided to sell the 1st and ride the 2nd. Confused yet? |

the guy joins this forum last week to see what the bike is worth. Its a nice motorcycle but I wouldn't want it. I rather have a 1979 CR125 that has the motor rebuilt with Works Shocks and have a bike to ride. I will never buy a bike just to look at. Once you look at it then what do you do with it. Confused yet? No, but I am much more interested in helping people fix up something up and get the enjoyment out of riding or preferably racing it.... |

Wow, that bike wound up selling for $8,801.99 - I wish I could find some of these non-ridden or ridden three times and put away in the garage for 20+ years. 
My buddy found a 1981 Yamaha YZ465 at the swapmeet in original showroom condition, the guy rode it a few times and the bike scared him - so off to the garage for 25 years. My buddy bought it for $ 1000.00 and sold it on Ebay for $ 3600.00 |

Specifically prices on everything from houses to hoses have risen 10 or 20 fold since 1979. Bike probably sold new for ~$1,000 so it is just keeping up with inflation. I seem to recall Vintage Iron would restore one to like new condition for $4,000-$7,000 so it isn't a function issue but a status symbol. Just a lot of dot com type millionaires dollars chasing would'a, could'a, should'a. See Mark Cuban, Dallas Mavericks owner, or the guy who owns the Discovery channel paying $1,000,000+ for Harley Earle's custom Buick to stick in his museum for reference. I have to admit I was pricing used surfboards from the 60's to see if I could replace my Dextra. Then I came to my senses and remembered I really sucked at surfing and Dextra was a 'me too' cookie cutter board and nobody would want to surf a 9'+ board in California shore break anyway. |

It is a lot of silly money out there....Paul Allen(Microsoft) types (trustfunds) etc. spending vast cash sums on vintage airplanes and anything Jimi Hendrix.How bout the ruining of the muscle car hobby by the likes of the televised circus called Barrett-Jackson???$$2,500 CR250m exhaust on E-Bay !! WTF! I hope these guys like looking at them hanging on the wall...I framed picture would have been a lot cheaper.I think its time to start looking into another hobby. |

I think is about getting something that money usually can´t get. A rich man can go to any dealer an get a new bike or car, but not get an " Old new one" or a bike or car with history. Like this guy in The middle East in the early 80´s who would hire Joe Montana to teach his son to trhow a ball or Greg Norman to teach him play golf. Is getting the ungettable. |
