I also have a 99% original cr 250, it´s a 79. I bought it a couple of months ago and frankly, it´s kind of hard to have a bike and not ride it. I ´ve restored other bikes ( xr75, montesa 360 ) and I use them and have great fun. Now I´m looking for another "Elsi" to restore and use, but in my country ( Paraguay) it´s really hard to find one. |

My thoughts on this are if its an original, mint bike in new condition, don't ride it.Find a rider in decent condition and ride that one. Parts for these older bikes are getting stupid expensive and difficult to find.If you really like to ride, get yourself a later model that doesn't say Elsinore on the side...They're better bikes and parts are easier to find. And if that doesn't work, go down to your local Honda dealer and get a new CR250...arguably the best mx'r out there now.Just my opinion... |

As long as the spring is capable of the travel limit of the fork you should not be concerned about the length. Most of the factory springs in the older bikes were progressive wound and a large portion of the spring would very tight, the Eibach springs will not be progressive and have no tight wound portion, so they can be shorter and still achieve the travel you need. Just put a spacer in to set the preload and you will be fine. |

Thank´s El-Senor........ I agree with you. You know, it´s funny that you mention that, yesterday a rode the other CR I have, a 1985 CR125R, as you said is a much better ride, I can do tabletops with confidence with it. The suspension is pretty decent, just a bit underpower. I forgot to mention, I´ve had a 2004 RM125, and a KXF250 until last year but to ride vintage bikes have a romantic taste, maybe ´cause I saw them racing when I was litle..... Thank´s again |
