Post subject: | Honda XL100s forks |
I bought a 1981 Honda XL100s a few years back and I have a question about the fork bolt. I was driving it one day and it must have fell out because I went over a bump and fork oil came shooting out at me so I never got a replacement bolt. They are now discontinued and I want to fix it up again so I can ride it this spring but I cannot seem to find it anywhere I look. What can I do as a replacement or atleast put something in the fork to act as the bolt. Any ideas? Thanks, catinthehat |

put the bike up on a stand where the front end is off the ground.remove the bolt from the opposite fork that didnt come loose.go to a hardware store that carries metric bolts and match it up.check the triple tree for damage.theres a possibility some damage resulted from allowing the bolt being loose.also check to see if the bolt broke off in the triple tree.another option is to watch ebay or check your local motorcycle salvage for the triple tree assembly. |

The triple tree is not damaged and the hardware stores I went to don't have a bolt that wide with that close of threads in any length. The dealer said its a very very rare size. |

boltdepot.com they got metric bolts. You'll need to find out what size it is and you can look that up on one of the bike shop websites that shows a blow up of the forks and then look up the part and see what size it is. Then order it from boltdepot.com. Google is my best friend. |
