I got my CR480 last Nov. and its taken until last weekend to get it race ready. I know some guys at my local motorcycle shop so they rebuilt the motor with Honda parts, the top and bottom of the motor was rebuilt and I'm glad I didn't ride the bike when I got it because the piston had a crack in it and some old muffler packing made its way into the motor. We had to go 50 over on the piston and also installed new, cables, clutch plants, brakes, tires. Everything was taken apart and put back together with new tire bearing, etc.
I sent the suspension off to Renegade Suspension of Indiana and they had new fork springs made for my 190 pound weight and and did some revalve of forks and shock. Redrocket190 from this Forum told me about the Eibach #883 shock spring that he installed on his 83 cr480 and it fits and works great on the 1982 CR480 also.
Its going to take me a few more rides to feel good on the bike, the forks feel as good as my 2003 CRF450 forks. I thought the power was going to be more than it was but I ride a CRF450 and maybe that is why it didn't surprise me.
